About Chris Ekblom

I’m a volunteer, guitarist, writer, board member, draftsman, distance runner, toastmaster and all around active person who loves life and it’s challenges. My experiences have helped me to discover a passion for personal development and helping others achieve positive results in their lives. I’m happy to say that I’ve never felt more ambitious and productive than I do at this stage of my life.

Over the past several years I’ve had the privilege of experiencing a level of personal growth that has motivated me to advance my career, run marathons, compete in triathlons, and give back to my community. The changes in my attitude and lifestyle have allowed me to create balance in my life and gain a deeper understanding of myself and my purpose. I’m excited to share these experiences here on Eksbook to help others achieve similar results in their lives as well.

Growing up, you could always find our family doing something together. Wether it was a bar-b-que at my grandparents, a trip to the mall, or dinner at home, we were together. Among many mantras my father had, the most common were those about family. “The most important thing is family”, he would say. He still says that. “I want you kids to do better than me”, was another. I’m always trying to make my parents proud by remembering what’s most important and constantly trying to do better every day.

As the oldest of 3 brothers I was given the responsibility to look after them on every outing. The duty introduced stress at a young age, as I would panic the moment they left my sight and run off in hysterics, screaming their names through the neighborhood only to find them next door playing video games. The result of added responsibility was maturity, and my acting more like a parent than an older brother. Still, I feel compelled to influence them, and lead by example.

Several years ago I joined a small band called North Country Connection. I played lead guitar and accompany vocals. The gigs were small ventures at Elk’s Clubs, Veteran’s Clubs, and campgrounds, we actually played more classic rock than country. The band has since parted ways but I’m still playing guitar every day.

I also worked in a neighborhood deli washing dishes and making sandwiches. I held the position of deli clerk for 7 years. The atmosphere was friendly and I liked talking with customers, but you can only make so many sandwiches. So, I decided to pursue an internship in college and soon got a job as a draftsman at a local construction firm in New Hampshire.

My journey through personal development has inspired me to set ever higher goals for myself, and keep a positive attitude about everything. I’ve discovered life is an endless learning process and can be anything you make of it. I’m now able to live my life with purpose. I know where I’m going and how to get there. Though this is only the beginning, I’m thankful for these times and grateful to have learned so much.
